AI Maturity Map

AI Maturity Map Guide

A structured toolkit that helps organisations move from AI curiosity to clear, actionable decisions.

What is AI Maturity Map?

AI Maturity Map is a 6-module AI readiness assessment toolkit designed for organisations exploring or planning AI adoption. It provides a structured journey from evaluating organisational readiness through to generating executive-ready summaries.

The toolkit covers the full assessment lifecycle: evaluate readiness, discover and prioritise use cases, map workflows, plan adoption, manage governance and risk, and synthesise everything into an executive summary. Governance guardrails are aligned with Australian regulatory frameworks including the AI Ethics Principles, Privacy Act 1988, and the Voluntary AI Safety Standard.

All data stays local in your browser (localStorage). Nothing is sent to a server. The toolkit works in demo mode with sample data, or you can connect a Claude API key for contextual AI-powered reasoning and suggestions. If you do provide your own API key, requests will be sent directly from your browser to the Claude API and standard Anthropic usage charges will apply.

Modules in Detail

Readiness Assessment

Evaluate your organisation's preparedness for AI adoption across six key dimensions: Data Maturity, Process Clarity, Skills & Culture, Risk Tolerance, Leadership Support, and Technology & Infrastructure. Answer 4 targeted questions per dimension to get a clear picture of where you stand.

Use Case Discovery

Identify concrete AI opportunities within your organisation using guided prompts. Each use case is scored across four factors to produce a prioritised backlog and a 2×2 decision matrix that separates quick wins from strategic bets.

Workflow Mapping

Visually map your current business processes using an interactive editor. Identify which steps are candidates for AI augmentation, estimate time savings, and understand integration points before committing to implementation.

Adoption Planning

Build a phased rollout plan with stakeholder mapping, success and failure signals, and adoption metrics. Move from discovery to execution with a structured approach that accounts for organisational dynamics.

Governance & Risk

Identify and manage AI-related risks with a structured register covering 8 risk types. Define guardrails aligned with Australian AI Ethics Principles, establish human-in-the-loop controls, and visualise your risk landscape with a severity heatmap.

Executive Summary

Generate a leadership-ready overview that synthesises findings from all completed modules. Requires at least 2 modules to be complete. Combines dashboard metrics with an AI-generated narrative tailored for decision-makers.

How Modules Connect

Modules share data to build a progressively richer picture. Readiness scores inform feasibility assessments in Use Case Discovery. Prioritised use cases drive phasing decisions in Adoption Planning and shape risk identification in Governance. All module outputs feed into the Executive Summary, which synthesises the full assessment into a single leadership-ready view.

Australian Regulatory Alignment

The governance module references key Australian frameworks to ensure assessments are relevant for Australian organisations.

AI Ethics Principles

Australia’s 8 voluntary AI Ethics Principles: human-centred, fair, privacy & security, transparent, contestable, accountable, reliable & safe, beneficial.

Privacy Act 1988 & APPs

Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Australian Privacy Principles, and data minimisation obligations for AI processing personal information.

SOCI Act 2018

Security of Critical Infrastructure Act obligations for utilities, energy, healthcare, telco, transport, and financial services.

ACSC Essential Eight

Australian Cyber Security Centre baseline controls referenced in security guardrails for AI system hardening.

Voluntary AI Safety Standard

Australia’s 10 voluntary guardrails (2024) for safe and responsible AI: governance, risk management, data quality, transparency, fairness, accountability, workforce capability, security, reliability, and contingency.

Key Principles

Client-Side Only

All data stays in your browser. No backend, no accounts, no tracking.

AI-Augmented

Works in demo mode or with a Claude API key. All AI suggestions are overridable.

Flexible Order

Complete modules in any order. Soft nudges suggest a natural flow.
